Does Torey Krug Have a Spot on The Ice?

Being the Bruins fanatic I am, I know they are stil in the middle of a heated playoff run. However, it is never to early to look at what changes, if any teams can do to better themselves.

There are a lot of great hitters in the long rich history of Baseball, but I dont feel out of place talking about the play from Tigers 3B Miguel Cabrera. Coming off a triple crown and MVP winning season (which I called around July 20), Cabrera has started out even better than last year. His batting average is flirting around .400, he is on pace to get over 150 RBI and be among the league leaders in home runs hit yet again. As crazy as these numbers are, they are not some fluke to begin the season. Cabrera of course hit for the Triple Crown last year, but also was a league leader in Home Runs and RBI and consistently bats over .300. Now to my original thought, I he the best pure hitter in baseball history? No. Players like Ted Williams and Hank Aaron steps above where Cabrera is now but possible not where he will be. According to ESPN, through the first 1557 games of both Cabrera and Aaron’s careers, both players had an average around .319, Cabrera has more RBI and has only hit about 20 less home runs. If “Miggy” can keep hitting the way he has been and can keep developing into the star MLB player he can, I would not be shocked to hear his name mentioned as one of the best hitters in history.

The NHL playoffs are in full swing and have given fans surprise after surprise. No surprise bigger than the upstart NY Islanders having stuck with the Penguins and almost stole a victory and the series lead before an overtime goal by Chris Kunitz. The Islanders fought back from a 2 goal deficit in the 3rd period which no one would have thought possible 24 hours before. If I thought the Penguins would have swept NY, I defiantly see this series going no less than 7 games

Another intriguing playoff match-up is the 2-7, Anaheim vs Detroit series. Detroit is the perennial playoff team and Anaheim is the upstart California team trying to bring hockey back to LA. These games have been goalie battles and I expect nothing less for the rest of the series. The Ducks have been able to shut down the top players from the RedWings and have been getting strong production from role players on the 3rd and 4th line. This is another series I see easily going 6 or 7 games.
